Violin

Today I borrowed one of Christi's black backdrops, and after making a makeshift softbox, I set to work photographing my violin. I want to do it again with Alison's violin so I can get some full length shots without tapes on the finger board, but for now this close up is cool.

Alison came in and got this pull-back photo with her ipod. You can kind of see my makeshift soft-box. I made it with a cardboard box, a trash bag, and a lamp. It isn't really portable, but it works for photos like this! After this photo I ended up darkening the room quite a bit by putting a blanket over the curtains, so then the extra light from the softbox was very handy!
